Dinner with Linus

For me, YouTube has been added to that long list of sites that was once essential, but is now completely unbearable. Other faves in this category: MySpace, Digg, and GoNintendo. As always, the problem is more with the users than with the content or operators of these sites.

I’ve really taken a shine to Vimeo for all of my video sharing needs. It’s much more content creator-centric (as opposed to piracy-centric), and it’s just a better user experience overall. Plus they have true HD, which is a boon for me since I’ve been shooting a lot of these time-lapse ditties with my 400D. Check the example here, or see my (skimpy) page for the HD version.

I still like turtles (and zombies)

Perhaps if I were a little more intelligent I’d be questioning the idea of a “holiday” devoted to the dead and candy, but my mind just keeps coming back to my friend Jonathan. Let’s give it up for one of the true, modern, American zombies.

Melody Day - Live from the Pink Room

Looks like rehearsals for Caribou’s upcoming North American tour are coming along nicely. This show is sure to be one of the best this year.

…and this isn’t too shabby either.

Thursday

Shufflin’ through the ol’ iPod I was reminded me of this little gem. Asobi Seksu’s Thursday is a great song for the what is easily the best day of the work week. Thursday holds all the hope of the coming weekend; By Friday this hope is usually replaced by the reality that said weekend will be spent trying to catch bats in your basement while the impending dread of Monday sits on your chest like a Buick. Perhaps this is more proof that the iPod is indeed a sentient being?

Caribou cometh

Dan Snaith talks a little about the process of recording the latest Caribou album, Andorra.

This is officially my favorite album not yet released. It’s currently floating around the ether via BitTorrent, but you can also check out some of the tracks on Caribou’s MySpace page. You can also peep a video for Melody Day, but we already talked about that over on the real blog. The album hits stores next Tuesday.

Señor Salty Chop

There’s a story to be told here, in fact a heavy morality tale. If you’ll just spend the next minute and twenty seconds with ol’ Señor Salty Chop, I think it’ll all be quite clear.

If it’s still not clear, please take a closer look.
