Bodies of Water: Our Friends Appear Like the Dawn

I’m still digesting the Bodies of Water album (thanks to Luke for the heads-up), but already, this track is a standout. It strikes me as a slightly softer, Funeral era Arcade Fire along with a bit of Danielson Famile-esque joy thrown in, and it makes me smile.

These guys are playing the Chapel at the First Unit Church next month, which is a great, intimate space for an act like this. Check it.

Ugh

I’m heading back to work tomorrow after a week off. The Romers have returned home. My office is muggy. Phoenixville is muggy. The house is too quiet (until Linus wakes up), and I’m generally bummed. Vacations always make “real life” so much more miserable for a few days when you finally have to return to your routine. After a couple of days of slogging it out in my cubicle, I usually forget all about life outside of work and my eyes glaze over until the next vacation.

On the bright side: I’ll be posting a few photos I took last week in the coming days.

On the brighter side: If I play my cards right, I might be able to retire in another 40 years!

This show was fantastic despite the horrific level of heat in the venue. I mean there’s hot, and then there’s pizza oven hot. This place fell somewhere in between. The band brought a boatload of energy which resulted in a much more “rocking” set than I was expecting, but Luke and I were in agreement that it worked on every level. These guys just love to play and it shows. If you get a chance to see them, don’t hesitate.

Photos all came out crap as I was only toting my pocket camera that night. The above photo is of a very nice, limited edition print that they handed out for free at the show. It’ll have to serve as my visual representation of the evening.
