So, it looks like I’ve been away for a little over a month. Strange, I actually thought it had been much longer. I guess I’ve just had an enormous case of life lately. Heather was sick, then I was sick, then Linus was sick, then I was sick again. And through it all I’ve just been sick of being in front of a computer. Work has picked up quite a bit, so when I do manage to set aside some derisory amount of free time, I generally would rather be doing something more relaxing (e.g. reading a good book). But I digress…
Our little guy is one year old today! It’s been an unbelievable year with this little tyke. I don’t think I even came close to imagining how awesome life could be as a parent. Linus is happy and healthy, and honestly, I think those two things could sustain me until the end of my days. So happy birthday big shot!

So, I’ve given Jott another try. It still invade around, curious if it’s transcriptions work a little better now. It used to be pretty chatty and it’s also more friendly with word test now and easier to post directly to the blog. So let’s see how it goes. I don’t have much to talk about. I’m at the Internet now. I have dinner night at home and at work.

Perhaps in the haze of all the pano photography you figured I’d neglected to take any photos of Linus. That couldn’t be further from the truth. This kid is still getting plenty time in front of the lens; I just haven’t had much time to actually do anything with the photos. I just added a few semi-recent shots of the little (big) guy to my Flickr photostream as well as the neglected Misc. Linus set.

In related news: I recently switched all of Linus’ photos at Flickr over to private status. The reasons are myriad, and I could get into a whole discussion of perceived privacy in the information age, but suffice to say that if I don’t know you, you probably don’t need to have hi-resolution images of my child. So, if you’re already one of my contacts in Flickr, you’ll see the images just fine. If not, just add me as a contact, and I’ll do the same for you.
If you don’t want to be bothered with contacts and pictures of painfully cute babies, well, chances are I never really liked you anyway.

You gotta be kidding me. Nintendo had to add yet another layer of safety to the Wii remote?! How absolutely inane is humanity that we have to be protected from ourselves at every turn? I guess the Japanese engineers that worked on the Wii never considered the great difficulty the rest of the world would have with holding an object the size of a candy bar (something most Americans have become quite adept at, I might add). I’m sure by Christmas they’ll replace the strap with a roll of duct tape, and they’ll be including a pair of knee pads and shin guards just for good measure.

After a long love affair with Takara’s Masterpiece Megatron with no reciprocation, I’ve finally canceled my preorder. This saga was almost a year in the making, and it’s just down-right depressing at this point. I guess Optimus will have to stand on his shelf sans nemesis. Also appearing on the chopping block today, Toynami’s Masterpiece Cyclone. Am I bummed? Absolutely. It seems that the toys that escaped my grasp as a youngster continue to be elusive well into my adulthood. Oh well, at least Heather will sleep better tonight, and I’m sure Linus will let me play with some of his plastic blocks, balls, turtles and donuts if I get sad.
I have shut the doors (again) on ArtificiallyImportant (which is probably how you found your way here). It was a social experiment that had some very promising moments, but in the end, just created more grief than joy. I’ve been using Legally Bland as my personal blog and will continue to do so. So if you’re still down for some good ol’ fashioned iNarcissism, I invite you to settle in here and hang on my every word.
Otherwise, there’s an entire (worldwide) web out there. Have a look-see.
I’m heading back to work tomorrow after a week off. The Romers have returned home. My office is muggy. Phoenixville is muggy. The house is too quiet (until Linus wakes up), and I’m generally bummed. Vacations always make “real life” so much more miserable for a few days when you finally have to return to your routine. After a couple of days of slogging it out in my cubicle, I usually forget all about life outside of work and my eyes glaze over until the next vacation.
On the bright side: I’ll be posting a few photos I took last week in the coming days.
On the brighter side: If I play my cards right, I might be able to retire in another 40 years!

First up, the Manistee Riverwalk. That’s the last of my panos from Manistee. Unfortunately our last trip was so short, I had little time for snapping pictures while we were there. You can see the interactive version over here.
Then there’s the Challenge of Champions. Wow. What to say about this one. I had sore legs for a week, and not for the reasons which may be alluded to by the photo. This was a paid gig; It was a day’s worth of taking pictures of men, women and children beating on each other. At the end of the day I managed to take a few pictures of my own for the pano. Interact up in here.
Other items of note:
- Crazy busy weekend - If I didn’t answer your email, it’s because I’m a jerk - but I’ll get to you soon.
- Romer’s will be here this week!
- After very Autumnal weather last week, we’ve enterered right back into Summer misery with temps in the 90’s.
- Sleep is for the week!
- Who needs TV when you have comic books?
- Who needs friends when you have the internet?
- Who needs sleep when you have pictures to stitch?
Actually it would appear as though no one waited, but I’ll carry on just the same. Why the long absence? Simple, real life has been so much more enjoyable than the virtual lately. When you have a baby, you quickly realize that your time is no longer your own, and honestly, I gotta say I don’t mind that one bit. I’m relishing every moment I’m able to spend with Heather and Linus, and lately staring at liquid crystal has just left me feeling drained. So I’ve been avoiding it.
So while you may have to wait two months for my next few paragraphs of dross, at least you can sleep soundly in the knowledge that I’m sleeping soundly.
