Automaton

Thank you Vanessa, for the toys. Thank you serendipity, for the time to take a photo and post it to my blog. Thank you small metal robot, for allowing my son to throw you repeatedly to the floor.

Dinner with Linus

For me, YouTube has been added to that long list of sites that was once essential, but is now completely unbearable. Other faves in this category: MySpace, Digg, and GoNintendo. As always, the problem is more with the users than with the content or operators of these sites.

I’ve really taken a shine to Vimeo for all of my video sharing needs. It’s much more content creator-centric (as opposed to piracy-centric), and it’s just a better user experience overall. Plus they have true HD, which is a boon for me since I’ve been shooting a lot of these time-lapse ditties with my 400D. Check the example here, or see my (skimpy) page for the HD version.

Dog Smack

Linus v. Judah

Linus and Judah have been the best of friends lately. Judah gets attention, and Linus gets to slap and scream at another creature. What can I say; the kid takes after his old man. Of course, there are more in the Linus set. Bonus points if you can find the macaroni!!

Linus: Still Cute

Linus Triceratops 1

Perhaps in the haze of all the pano photography you figured I’d neglected to take any photos of Linus. That couldn’t be further from the truth. This kid is still getting plenty time in front of the lens; I just haven’t had much time to actually do anything with the photos. I just added a few semi-recent shots of the little (big) guy to my Flickr photostream as well as the neglected Misc. Linus set.

Linus Triceratops 2

In related news: I recently switched all of Linus’ photos at Flickr over to private status. The reasons are myriad, and I could get into a whole discussion of perceived privacy in the information age, but suffice to say that if I don’t know you, you probably don’t need to have hi-resolution images of my child. So, if you’re already one of my contacts in Flickr, you’ll see the images just fine. If not, just add me as a contact, and I’ll do the same for you.

If you don’t want to be bothered with contacts and pictures of painfully cute babies, well, chances are I never really liked you anyway.

New and newish

These are a few of my newest panos. I haven’t had a chance to shoot anything this week, but I’ve had plenty of images lying around waiting to be stitched. Be sure to follow the links to Flickr to see the interactive versions. You can also hit the Recent Panos link in the sidebar, or I bet you could even click here.

This one was taken on the corner of Main and Third in Phoenixville. I suggest you interact with it. I’m going to interact with a comic and then I plan on interacting with my pillow.

Pano Neuvo

This one was an absolute bear to stitch. In the future I’ll avoid shooting directly beneath massive amounts of intersecting utility lines. The bulk of the stitching went pretty quickly, but cleaning up the wires in Photoshop took forever. This is also my first attempt at using Photomatix to get a tone mapped image from three different exposures. I’m unimpressed with most of the tone mapped images that seem to be tickling everyone’s fancy currently. I was attempting to accurately recreate the scene rather than make the digital equivalent of a black velvet painting. Overall I’m pretty happy with it, but I still want to continue to tweak my settings a little bit. Right now I’m going to go tweak my pillow.

Be sure to see the interactive version too.
