We decided to have Branden’s mom and sisters over for a sampling of Branden’s skilled grillary on the 4th. While picking up some last minute items at our local Acme supermarket, I received a call requesting that the menu be expanded to include baked beans. When I arrived home, I decided to put the bake in baked beans (as opposed to heating in a saucepan) and preheated the oven. 10’s of minutes into the preheat, I smell something a little odd and suddenly remember hiding a Tupperware container full of dirty utensils in the oven a couple of nights ago. I opened the door to find the once rectangular Tupperware, which was a proud host to many homemade truffles, now laying transformed into a puddle and dripping onto the oven floor. There’s no need to further the story.
Among the survivors were the silverware, some JA Henkel knives, and a Pampered Chef spatula (yes, ladies, these really are heat resistant). Sadly, our thermometer was swallowed up by melted plastic and was not able to be saved. I, too, would have been a casualty, but luckily I am still Linus’ primary food source, so Branden saw fit to spare me.
Just another reason why you shouldn’t purchase silverware that shalt not be put in the dishwasher.
I don’t have a picture of this, so I’m leaving you with a miscellaneous photo for this post (I like horses).

I’m not sure what Branden’s doing lately - I mean, no post since May 22nd on Legally Bland??? I’m going to pick up a little slack here and get my birthday off the front page. Let’s now talk about the day after my birthday - Father’s Day. I don’t have the FD pictures on the computer yet, but here’s a little something from our stint in Michigan. I don’t want to embarrass him by going into detail, but let it be known that Branden’s a great and awesome father to this little guy. By the way, to those of you who said that having kids would make him less of a neat freak - you’re all wrong! This is all for now, there’s more important things to do: laundry, tidying up, dishes, and make-up.

Okay, the Sad Sack post has run it’s course and I’m hijacking Branden’s blog to talk about a subject near and dear to my heart, my birthday. More specifically, the day before my birthday. I was born on June 16th (year is omitted after age 29), but to one best friend, I was born on June 15th. You see, I’ve had the same best friend for 22 years now and she would often wish me happy birthday on the 18th, or some other non-16th day. After years of correction, she now proudly wishes me happy birthday every year on the 15th while stating, “I remembered it correctly this time”. It breaks my heart to have to tell her the truth given her enthusiasm for finally getting it right, but I do, and the next year I promptly receive my birthday wish again on the 15th.
I don’t want this to be perceived as poking fun of my dear friend, this is not the intent at all. This is one of my most cherished birthday memories and something that always brings a smile and laughter to my heart when I think about it. So, tomorrow marks the 15th. If my friend has truly “gotten it right this time”, I will be disappointed. Otherwise, I look forward to speaking with her tomorrow. I love you, Vanessa!
Well, this is all for now, and probably ever, as I’m sure Branden will tighten blog security measures upon reading this.
Thanks for listening. - Heather
