Lullatone

Another fine show prompted by Rubens. I only found out about this a couple hours before it started, and it was pleasant surprise to say the least. Lullatone hails from Nagoya Japan, so it’s probably safe to say they may not be back around here for a while. The show was very intimate, interactive, and joyful. If you’re not familiar with their music, check out their website. There are also a few tracks to be heard on their Virb page.

You can see the rest of my photos in the Flickr set.

yes, they have the cutetunes. it’s hard to believe that there are things you still don’t know about. and that looks to be a cool space - very comfy room for pajama pop. are you guys really wearing jackets up there already - or is that just Rubens’ flow?

Yeah, there actually were a few jackets in the room last night; I was wearing one myself. It’s been unseasonably cool up here for about a week. And yes, that is also Ruben’s flow.

The forecast is calling for weather that’s more in line with August for next week, so you should feel right at home for your visit.

Luke, Branden and I were saying that this is more ammo for you guys to make the move north. Nonetheless, brother we’re stoked about you guys coming. We hope to get to see you. I was telling Branden that he and I were the only ones suited for this show from the people we know around here. Had you all been here they’d have to move the show somewhere bigger.

It’s been quite chilly round here. True nice. But apparently the sun is making its move back.

Branden i think Montag is back on the set, just checked the r5 joint. Don’t know if I’ll be able to make, need to talk to Lynne. If you’re getting tickets let me know.

Oh and did you see that His Name Is Alive is playing the 14th?!

I did but I can’t vouch for anything those guys have done lately. Warren Defever updates the direction of the band pretty drastically and most frequently. Still, it may be worth investigating.

Bro I just left the store with the new Caribou. Strong points:

    . Melody Day
    . Desiree
    . Niobe

The rest is nice but it’s a record from the 60’s psychedelia, which I love nonetheless, but I’d rather listen to that made new. The departure here is that his Sun Ra influence seems to have depatured for a sojourn (I hope). I miss Sun Ra in his stuff. Dang I miss Sun Ra period. But I think it’ll grow on me. I went expecting the 6o’s/psych pushed through the future and came out mostly with the former. Good but not inventive as his previous efforts.

Yeps, I’m hoping to do Montag, Vampire Weekend, and Caribou. Alls I need is a donation from everyone.

And to make matters worse/better/awesome: I just found out that Ulrich Schnauss is coming to Philly in September. I guess I’m gonna be getting my broke on soon.
