Pitchfork, Welcome to 2004

I have a love-hate relationship with Pitchfork. Lacking good music stores anywhere near me, I rely on them for the bulk of my music news. I also rely, to a lesser degree, on their reviews when seeking out new music. That’s the love part. The hate stems from their terrible site design and complete inability to grasp the idea of “user experience.” That homepage would make Pollock proud. It’s the digital equivalent of throwing paint until the canvas disappears.

So my heart nearly skipped a beat when I noticed today that they have finally added an RSS feed to the site. Finally I can read the headlines [in my news reader] without having to stare at their bloated home page. Welcome to the web of the 21st century Pitchfork. It’s great to have you.

I don’t see an RSS feed there either, but you’re right about the layout. I’ll give it a look-see.

Wow, thanks for noticing that! Even though I visit Pitchfork daily I never noticed the RSS! And I had even been wishing they had one. I just changed my Visualizer from Slashdot to Pitchfork…since Slashdot isn’t annoying to look at!

How do you like that RSS Visualizer? I never use it, but I’ll have to check it out. I use a Dashboard widget for all my RSS feeds, so the Pitchfork was a welcome addition.
