Bloody Sputum

I’m guessing that Heather and I spent about 90% of the last six days on our couch. It was definitely rough there for a while. The highlight had to be spending the night in the ER last Tuesday, but my own experience with bloody sputum was a close second! In the midst of all the health delinquency over the past few days, I had the opportunity to catch up on some video games:

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - I love this game, can’t believe it’s taken me this long to pick it up again
  • Kirby: Canvas Curse - This game is harder than I want it to be.
  • Zelda: The Minish Cap - I’m just starting this and my first impression is that this is a really great looking game for a GBA title.
  • Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time - I’m loving this as much as Paper Mario, and again, why did it take so long for me to pick it up again?

So as you can see my time frame for picking up a new title is averaging about three years. If I do start playing a game at launch I usually stop for at least a few months before finishing it. The moral of the story is this, get sick and get a sick wife then you can make time for video games!

Look at what Heather and I made!

Titanic - Two The Surface

We all know how tough it can be living in a unfamiliar town, and in the future. Thanks to Luke for making me look.

I don’t know what’s going on with the comments form. I’m about to bust out a shamrock shake and just call it quiet!

Take a second and try to comment on this story. Let me know what happens. Does the page refresh properly? Does your comment show up right away or do you have to refresh again? Should I just send everyone a block of wood into which they can whittle messages?

GAH!

Who’s going to watch it with me?

Oh yeah…

I also tidied up the links over there and added a few new ones. I’m now linking to Autrelle’s non-aikido oriented blog; His civilian blog if you will. Now I’m going to go read a book. I suggest you do the same.

Mo’ Better Blog

I changed the comments again. The previous method was wrting all comments to the main page which meant that the load got a little heavy as the comments added up. Now comments are written only to the item pages. The “comments” link will now take you to the item page where you can (hopefully) add comments as well. We shouldn’t have to look at the Blogger comment page anymore. I have noticed that your comment won’t show until the page is refreshed for some reason, but I’ll continue to tinker with it. Let me know if it sucks.

Steve Jobs wants all my money

I got a chance to play with the new MacBooks for a while at the Apple store, and they are damn sexy. I love the matte finish on the black, and I’m wondering why they stuck with the gloss finish on the white (fingerprints are also known as “bane of Branden”). The keyboard has a great feel and just looks nicer recessed as it is. The lid closes with a magnet so there is no latch; very cool. Everything opened much faster and felt a lot snappier than on my 4-year old (gasp!) iBook. Some of the apps even gave my G5 a run for its money. My biggest complaint is that the low-end should be cheaper. It’s got a 60GB drive and no DVD burner, and they still want $1100 for it. A $999 price point would be much more tempting. There are only minor differences between the three models (.2ghz on the processor and 20GB in the HDD), and the black is only available in the top-end model. All in all, they’re sweet and I’d gladly snatch one up, but I can’t justify it until one of my other machines bites the dust. I’m planning on dropping my iBook down the basement stairs tonight [wink].

Sir blog-a-lot

I crave the pillow and I’m about to hit it. The weekend was refreshingly stagnate. That is to say, there isn’t much to say. I’ll sum it up:

The good

  • Spent a sizable chuck of the weekend with my wife
  • Spent a half hour or so plinking around with the new MacBooks
  • Wrestled with my dog
  • Slept more than five consecutive hours for two nights in a row
  • Added a couple of pairs of jeans to my closet
  • Ice cream!

The not-so good

  • Had to mow the lawn
  • Had to walk among other “humans” at the mall
  • Nothing crossed off my list (any list)
  • It’s over now

Have sleep.

Spicy!

I found these in the corner of our kitchen at work. I think I’m going to put a couple under my car seat and save them for Thanksgiving.
